Florianópolis numbers among the cities with the highest standard of living in Brazil. The city is surrounded by 100 superb beaches and many nature preserves; it is also considered the Eldorado of Brazilian surfing. For that reason, it draws thousands of young tourists to its shores each year. But for the "normal" tourist there are equally many reasons for visiting the city. Florianópolis is also the point of departure for many other enchanting cities, such as Blumenau and Pomerode and for the famous sea resorts, such as Balneário Camboriú and Garopaba.
